We're Here for You

In a time when all the world seems to say you've got to make it on your own, the gospel of Jesus Christ lifts the burden. There is a God in heaven who loves us, provides for us, and who gave His only Son to adopt people — all kinds of people, from every culture, with all kinds of pasts — into His family. That family is called the church. We're here for Him, for each other, and for you.

4 p.m. Sundays @ 4405 Hope Valley Rd.

Welcome to SoDu

South Durham Church is a growing family of people who love Jesus, love each other, and have a passion to serve our community.

You're welcome here, wherever you are with God and whatever questions you have. Come worship with us this Sunday. We look forward to meeting you.

Planning your visit

What to Expect

When you arrive, look for South Durham Church signs to guide you into the parking lot. Friendly faces will be waiting to greet you (look for the Welcome sign), hand you a bulletin, and guide you to the childcare check-in station or the sanctuary. We provide childcare for children under the age of five during our worship service.

When you enter the sanctuary, we'll make sure you find a seat. The worship service will include contemporary and traditional songs, a sermon, and Communion. An offering is collected, but guests are not expected to give. The bulletin you receive will walk you through each part of the service so you won't feel lost.

Come get to know us

Beyond Sunday mornings, here are some great ways to get to know who we are at South Durham Church.

  • Attend a Q&A

Once a month, we hold a question and answer session and give a brief introduction about our church.

  • Visit a Community Group

Community Groups are where real life together happens within South Durham. Groups meet weekly throughout the Triangle and share food, talk about Christ, pray, and serve their community.

"The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many" — Mark 10:45. Like our Savior, we want to lay down our lives to serve others. These ministries are some of the ways we do that together as a church family.

Early Childhood and Elementary

SoDu Kids

During our worship service, children under the age of six are cared for in a fun, engaging, and secure environment where they learn about the God who loves them. Our great volunteers teach age-appropriate Bible lessons, sing songs, and play with the kids. Childcare is available for babies, and children six-years-old and older are invited to worship with the adults. Check-in for SoDu Kids is easy to find and opens 15 minutes before the service begins.

Life Together

Community Groups

Throughout the week, singles and families meet together in homes to encourage each other, study the Bible, and pray together. These groups give us the chance to go deeper in our lives together and in our walk with Christ.

Of course, you don't have to be a Christian to come — we welcome you whether you've got a lot of questions or you just want to see what the Bible and Christianity are all about. Most groups provide teaching for children through Kids in Community, too.

Middle and High Schoolers

SoDu Youth

Youth ministry at SoDu exists to come alongside parents and caregivers in the discipleship of children as they grow into adulthood. Our aim is to make spiritually mature disciples who are equipped to do the work of ministry, preparing youth for the independence of the college years and beyond. Our excellent youth leaders engage the youth in Bible study, fun activities, prayer, and discipleship relationships.

SoDu Youth meets weekly on Wednesday nights from 6:30–8:00 p.m. at a member's home in south Durham.

Making Christ Known Through Word & Deed

Service & Evangelism

Christ healed the sick and shared the good news of salvation by grace through faith in His death on the cross for us. As a church, we strive to be agents of God's justice and mercy in our world, whether that's through supporting great causes or blessing our community through our partnerships with local schools and other organizations. At the same time, we want to tell everyone we can that there is life, hope, forgiveness, and freedom in Christ for every sinner. We pray you'll join us on His mission.
